The St. Lawrence River Walleye Association's goal is to enhance
the St. Lawrence River fishery and promote tourism in Northern New York State by building a 5,100 sq.ft. research center which
will house a hatchery and visitors center. A 5-6 acre site is being sought on the banks of the river to accommodate
2 half-acre ponds, the research center and adequate parking.
In the interim, SLRWA has forged ahead, and in Spring 2010, volunteers successfully incubated and released 10,000-plus
walleye from a newly built portable hatchery and maturation pond.
SLRWA was founded as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) so the efforts
of the organization through fundraising and tournaments will allow for the ability of SLRWA to build and sustain a new research
center, hatchery and visitors center on the St. Lawrence River near Waddington or Massena NY.
